World Book Day

We have had a wonderful time these last days, though we have worked hard in different subjects.
First, we started to read The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar and Six More by Roald Dahl with our Spanish teacher (Carmen Herrero). It was incredible both to enjoy and work on the different questions which made us reflect about plot, characters, setting …
Second, our English teacher (Eva Montes) told us to read one of the stories, The Swan, in English. We had to analyze different aspects and even to change the ending, which was not difficult, as we can make it up easily. Thirdly, she told us to design a bookmark with our favourite sentence from the story. As we must write our English penpals a letter, we could send them these bookmarks as presents.
Finally, our Science teacher (Pilar González) said we should research the different birds mentioned in The Swan, and we did it in both Spanish and English.
In the photos you can see some samples of our project.

CTIC

The 24th of March, the 3A class went to the CTIC, a technological center in the Laboral's area.

There, they told us about the importance of technology in our nowadays life. We also learnt that the W3C has its Spanish office here in Gijon.

Then, in the lab, we saw some examples of the important uses of technology now, such as 3D screens, face recognition systems or 3D printers. The 3D printers were the things that shocked us the most, as we realised that we can do a lot of things with them, and that it is an incredible technological advance.

Our Visit to Tito Bustillo Cave

Yesterday first year students (S1E) of the Bilingual Programme went to Tito Bustillo Cave.

We started with the workshop. There we learnt about Homo sapiens populations and the Neanderthals and how they lived.

We also learnt about how they painted.

And we tried it ourselves. Afterwards we got to learn even more about it from a tour of the museum.

Then we were anxious because we were going into the cave.

It was an amazing experience, but look at Raquel´s boots!

Then, in our free time, we went to Santa Marina Beach.

There we had a snack because we were hungry!!!
