BILINGUAL SECTION STUDENTS (2010-2014)

School Trip to Italy

On the 7th of May we left Gijón very early in the morning, when the first light couldn’t be  seen yet. After three hours and a half by bus we arrived at Bilbao Airport and we had to wait for three hours more to take the plane at 11:50 a.m. Two hours and twenty minutes were needed to arrive in Venice, at Marco Polo Airport, which is just in the middle of the sea and later on, we went to a port were we took a “vaporetto”, a kind of big boat which works as a water taxi. We docked on the island of Santa Elena and we went sightseeing. Then, we took the "vaporetto" again and went to the hotel, which was on another island. The next day, we had free time and we visited different monuments and some of us rode on a "gondola". After that, in the evening, we took the bus again and we continued with our trip.

Florence was the second city in which we stayed during our trip to Italy. I really enjoyed visiting museums and seeing masterpieces such as the David of Miguel Angel, but I was even more impressed as we got to see the Florence Cathedral. We were guided by a local who showed us the gorgeous bridges and the lively streets that make Florence well known by its wonderful atmosphere. Despite the country house where we were staying was far from the city, we were able to have a refreshing bath in the swimming pool as we came back.

We spent the last days of our trip in Rome, from my point of view, the best city to stay and know the historical past of Italy. Firstly, we were able to move through the city alone and know by ourselves the places, so we could appreciate all the wonderful little corners. We were in Piazza Navona, which was one of my favourite places in Rome because there you can see all type of artists’ paintings and drawings, people dancing or singing and that creates a fantastic atmosphere. Fontana Di Trevi is also very nice with lots of shops to get a souvenir or to buy something special from Italy. It was a pity that the fountain was being repaired. However, I think on this first day in Rome we had the opportunity to fall in love with the city, and I believe it is great to see all the popular places,  but the creativity and people are what I enjoyed most.
